The Pages & Pints series at Lewiston Public Library will kick off with Maine author Russ Phillips on Saturday, September 27 at 6 p.m. This free public event will open in the Library’s Callahan Hall, where Phillips will discuss his book, “CANNED! Artwork of the Modern American Beer Can.” The evening will then continue with tours of Baxter Brewing Co., followed by a reception and beer tasting.

“CANNED! Artwork of the Modern American Beer Can” provides a close look at the original artwork on over 600 different modern beer cans from across 40 states. The book tells the stories behind the names and designs of select beers from nearly 200 different breweries, including The Alchemist, Sierra Nevada, Ska, Midnight Sun, Maui, New Belgium, Oskar Blues, and Lewiston’s Baxter Brewing Co. It features full-color images and a foreword by Dale Katechis, owner and founder of Oskar Blues Brewery.

Russ Phillips is the founder and editor of CraftCans.com. A member of the North American Guild of Beer Writers, he is also a contributor and columnist for several beer-related publications, both online and in print. He is an avid traveler and a lover of all things craft beer. He lives with his family in Portland, Maine.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing at both the Library and Baxter Brewing Co. on the night of the event. No registration is required.
