Daniel Buck Appraisals, Auctions & Art Gallery celebrated the opening of their newly renovated 4,000 sq. ft. auction gallery and 2,000 sq. ft. art and antiques gallery recently with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at their 501 Lisbon Street location in Lisbon.

Owner Daniel Buck Soules welcomed Androscoggin County Chamber President Matt Leonard, along with local municipal officials and other guests, who were given a tour of the downstairs auction area, where many items, some dating back to the early 1800’s, were ready for auction at an upcoming event. The first level art gallery walls displayed paintings by Australian artist Sir Charles Lloyd Jones, German artist Hermann Max Pechstein and American’s Norman Rockwell, representing just a sample of Buck’s collection.

Buck, who specializes in Americana of the 18th and 19th centuries, Shaker items, and 19th and 20th century paintings, has been involved in the sale and appraisal of antiques and fine art since the early 1970s. He started his career in the family antiques business and began auctioneering in 1975. In the early 1980s, he worked at the renowned Hancock Shaker Village Museum as a cabinetmaker and interpreter, where he also co-authored the Shaker how-to book, “Simple Gifts.” More recently, he served for eleven years as an independent appraiser on PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow,” where he did a number of on-air valuations.
