The 32nd annual Moxie Festival, running Friday through Sunday, July 11 through 13 at various Lisbon venues, will feature three new events for 2014.

The Kavanaugh Amusement Carnival will run from Thursday through Sunday at Don’s Automotive on Capital Avenue, just off of Route 196. Featuring 10 to 12 rides, games, food vendors, and other activities for all ages, the Carnival will operate on Thursday from 5:30 to 10:00, Friday from 5:30 to 11:00, Saturday from noon to 11:00, and Sunday from 11 to 5:00. A $16 bracelet will provide unlimited access to rides on Thursday and Sunday; rides on Friday and Saturday will be by ticket only.

On Saturday, July 12, the first-ever Moxie Day 30- and 50-Mile Bike Rally will begin at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine, at Crafts Cars on Route 196. The rally will end at the Railroad Diner in Lisbon Falls. Registration is $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the race.

Also on Saturday, July 12, Maine’s Vintage Base Ball teams will play a double-header at Goddard Field at Lisbon High School. Vintage Base Ball is about reliving America’s favorite past time as it was played during its formative years in the nineteenth century. Teams play in accordance with the rules, equipment, uniforms, field specifications, customs, practices, language, and behavioral norms of that period.

Game 1 at 7 p.m. will feature the Presumpscot Base Ball Club of Westbrook against the Dirigo Base Ball Club of Augusta, while Game 2 at 8 p.m. will be a rematch with participation by fans. Also at 8 p.m., the Presumpscot Base Ball Club will present a Kids Baseball Clinic at Sugg Field. Admission to these Base Ball events is free. Bring a lawn chair to watch.
