Preservation Board honors Rails, Kora Shrine

Rails, the new restaurant located at 103 Lincoln Street, will be the site of the Lewiston Historic Preservation Review Board’s 2015 Annual Awards presentation on Thursday, May 7 at 3 p.m.

The building housing Rails will be one of two honored by the board for outstanding preservation efforts this year. Previously known as the Grand Trunk Depot, the historic building is owned by the Lewiston-Auburn Railroad Company, which made renovations to the building’s interior and exterior. The company leases the space to Rails proprietors Stephen and Claire Dick.

Also slated to be recognized for renovations to its facade will be the Kora Shrine building, located at 11 Sabattus Street.

Kora Shrine Potentate Richard Hersom will attend the ceremony.

Each year, in observance of National Preservation Month, the City of Lewiston’s Historic Preservation Review Board recognizes outstanding preservation efforts in the community to raise awareness of the ability of historic preservation to enhance community, energize local economies and renew existing resources.
