Rain did not dampen the spirits or lessen the generosity of the more than 200 people who attended Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s 13th annual Autumn Night Out at the Poland Spring Resort recently.

While the fireworks to recognize AHCH’s 50th anniversary were canceled due to the heavy rain, thunder and lightning, those attending still enjoyed an evening of food, friendship and fun for a good cause. Many left with unique items that were auctioned off by Maine humorist Gary Crocker and hundreds of silent auction items were also up for bid.

More than $70,000 was raised at the event, and thanks to the event’s sponsors, all of the proceeds will be used to assist AHCH patients who do not have the ability to pay for much-needed services.

“Our agency is grateful for the overwhelming support we continue to receive from both individuals and businesses,’’ said Kenneth Albert, President and CEO of AHCH. “What amazed me was the number of people who donated items, both large and small. The volume of support clearly shows that AHCH is seen as an important community resource and that our work does not go unnoticed. I thank all of those who helped make the event such a big success, including the sponsors, gift donors, those who bought tickets, our staff, the many volunteers and our gracious hosts.”
