DaVinci’s owner is Restaurateur of the Year

Jules Patry, owner of DaVinci’s Eatery in Lewiston and a leader in the repurposing of the Bates Mill complex, will be honored as Restaurateur of the Year by the Maine Restaurant Association Board.

The Restaurateur of the Year award goes to those who have proven themselves as astute restaurant entrepreneurs who demonstrate creative talent and dedication to perfecting the dining experience. They operate businesses that serve as a cornerstone of their respective communities.

In addition to the Restaurateur of the Year award, the association will honor the Chef of the Year and the Allied Member of the Year, as well as present the Lifetime Achievement award. These awards will be presented on April 3 during the Maine Restaurant Association’s annual awards banquet.

Chef David Turin, chef and owner of David’s Restaurant in Portland’s Monument Square and David’s 388 on Cottage Road in South Portland, has earned the distinction of Chef of the Year.

The 2012 Allied Member of the Year, which goes to suppliers and service providers that consistently go the extra mile to help their restaurant customers succeed, will be presented to Atlantic Pest Solutions.

The 2012 Lifetime Achievement honoree is Curt Parent, owner and operator of Cook’s Lobster House on Bailey Island, who has been a restaurateur for more than 30 years.

Steve DiMillo, chairman of the Maine Restaurant Association Board of Directors, announced the recipients of the 2012 annual awards. “We seek nominations for gifted individuals who have mastered the art of balancing business acumen and hospitality excellence and have earned the respect of customers, peers and their community,” he said.

Awards will be presented on Tuesday, April 3 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland. The banquet is open to members of the Maine Restaurant Association, as well as the general public. For more information, see www.mainerestaurant.com.
