Teams of horses will demonstrate the true meaning of the term “horse power” when they plow a portion of a field the old fashioned way on Skyline Farm’s 8th annual Plow Day on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This free public event will feature horse-drawn wagon rides by Ben Lapointe of Greene and his pair of miniature horses, along with demonstrations of blacksmithing by Tim Greene of Parsonsfield and the care and raising of dairy goats by the White Pine Caprines 4-H Club. Certified Professional Dog Trainer Diana Logan and her dog, Astro, will demonstrate some Amazing Dog Tricks from 1 to 1:15., and baked goods and grilled refreshments will be available for sale under the tent from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

On view in the Carriage Museum will be the exhibit “Portland’s Horse-Drawn Heritage,” focusing on Portland’s West End during the era of horse-drawn transportation, and “Let There Be Light,” a special exhibit of antique lamps.

The rain date for the event is Sunday, May 15. Skyline Farm is located at 95 The Lane in North Yarmouth. Parking is available in the field beyond the outdoor arena and along one side of The Lane. For more information, contact Pamela Ames at 829-5708 or info@skylinefarm.org.
