The Anniversary Planning Committee includes (l. to r., from front) Cindy Swift, Caryn Bourgoin, Lynsay Henry, Paulette Tabb, Ann Weaver, Cathy McDonald (Co-Chair), Maureen Andrews and Christine Bosse (Co-Chair).

This year, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and its care partners celebrate 50 years of service to residents and their families in Maine. Throughout those years, AHCH has been known for its high quality care on the forefront of health care change. In 1966, AHCH started with one nurse, one aide and one office support person; today, the agency employs over 400 people with over 280 volunteers and serves 122 cities, towns and townships throughout its service area.

Starting as a source of home care services for the chronically ill, AHCH now offers services in the areas of home care, hospice care, supportive care, tele-health monitoring, community care and several other health care specialties. In 2015, AHCH served over 8,700 patients, providing 244,474 visits worth $1.35 million in subsidized care.

Events will be planned throughout the year to celebrate AHCH’s 50th anniversary. The committee formed to organize these events is made up of employees, leadership team members, board members, volunteers and community partners. “I’m so excited to be a part of AHCH,” said Cathy McDonald, volunteer and co-chair of the Anniversary Committee. “What an exceptional group of staff and volunteers! Celebrating 50 years is quite a milestone, and we are so fortunate as a community to have AHCH here.”

The first event, co-sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank, will take place on April 7 at Bedard Pharmacy. More events are planned throughout AHCH’s service area as an opportunity for the agency to thank those who have supported them through the years. “We have several celebrations planned, and we hope that you will join us with your support,” said McDonald. “Here’s to another 50 years!”
