CMMC Gala raises $109,500 for Birthing Center
Central Maine Medical Center raised over $109,500 for its Special Delivery Family Birthing Center with its recent dinner-dance affair on April 9. The “Mad Hatters Ball” was the theme of CMMC’s 20th annual Spring Gala, held at the historic Kora Shrine Center in Lewiston.
Guests enjoyed an evening that included a social hour complete with hors d’ouevres, a four-course dinner featuring food inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland,” and dancing to the sounds of the decades with the Jim Ciampi Band. Cast members from L/A Community Little Theatre added to the whimsical mood by entertaining and interacting with guests as the main characters of the book. A summary of the event with photos is available at www.cmmcgiving.org.
The Special Delivery Family Birthing Center at CMMC combines the best of delivery care with the comforts of home. CMMC is currently in the analysis phase of a several-step process to construct a new Maternity Unit and NICU suite; the success of the 2016 Spring Gala brings CMMC one step closer to the extensive building project.
CMMC would like to thank the event’s major sponsors, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare (Officiating Sponsor), Cerner Corporation (Presenting Sponsor), and Center Street Dental and UMR (Wonderland Sponsors). Their generosity, along with that of 15 other major sponsors, including many businesses in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area, made the event a success. Also providing crucial support were volunteers from the CMMC Associates Volunteer Program and the Woman’s Hospital Association.
