CMO, Select Physical Therapy to host golf seminar

On Wednesday April 13, Central Maine Orthopaedics, a division of Spectrum Medical Group, and Select Physical Therapy will host a community seminar on how to prepare for an optimal golf season called “Fitness to Fairway.” The program will feature a panel of professionals, ranging from physicians to professionally trained golf experts, who will offer guidance and advice on everything from injury prevention to swing mechanics and how to return to golf safely after surgery or a joint replacement.

Free and open to the public, the event will take place at Select Physical Therapy, located within the CMO building at 690 Minot Avenue in Auburn. Panelists will be available from 5 to 7 p.m., with question and answer time included. Light refreshments will be served and a door prize of one free Golf Swing Video Analysis will be given away to one lucky attendee. Golf lovers of all ages and capabilities are welcome. The panelists will be Dr. Paul Cain of CMO, Dr. Matthew McLaughlin of CMO, Sean Shields, PT, DPT of Select Physical Therapy and Allan Menne, PGA Golf Professional with Poland Spring Country Club. Dr. Cain is a board-certified sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon with various areas of specialty, including sports medicine, arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder and knee, knee ligament reconstruction, and cartilage restoration. Dr. McLaughlin is a physiatrist and is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain management and electrodiagnostic medicine. He joined CMO as the Medical Director of Maine Spinecare in May, 2013.

Sean Shields, PT, DPT is the Center Manager for Select Physical Therapy. He is highly experienced in treating orthopaedic conditions and injuries, sports injuries, pediatric conditions, and neurological disorders and conditions. He is also a golf analysis certified through Titleist Performance Institute. Allan Menne is in his seventh season as the PGA Golf Professional at the Poland Spring Country Club. He has competed in eight PGA Tour events and many regional events and mini-tours over the years and was the Connecticut Section PGA Champion in 1995.
