Grants available for Andro. County nonprofits
Nonprofit and public organizations seeking funding for projects that draw on the strengths of the community and foster collaboration are encouraged to apply to the Androscoggin County Fund, part of the Maine Community Foundation’s Community Building Grant Program.
A volunteer committee of Androscoggin County residents and business leaders reviews grants and makes recommendations for funding. The deadline for applying is February 15. The application and guidelines are available at www.mainecf.org.
The Androscoggin County Fund supports projects that seek to build community connections; broaden and diversify leadership and community involvement; help communities to encourage civic involvement; increase trust across lines of difference; and encourage people to do more with others, rather than just for others.
Grants awarded in 2013 included $10,000 to Tree Street Youth for expansion of the Tree Street College Preparatory Program and $10,000 to Advocates for Children to establish a volunteer program.
With offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. To learn more about the foundation, visit www.mainecf.org.
