Summer Block Party for Make-A-Wish Maine a success!
The second annual Summer Block Party to benefit Make-A-Wish Maine took place on Saturday, August 13, outdoors at Mac’s Grill of Auburn. Make-A-Wish Maine grants wishes to children facing life threatening illnesses, at an average cost of $7,000 per wish. Uncle Andy’s inaugural event last year raised enough money to fund two wishes. The goal of this year’s event, presented by Uncle Andy’s Digest, Mac’s Grill and the LA Metro Chamber of Commerce, was to raise enough money to fund four wishes, to be granted to local children here in Androscoggin County.
With the support of many local businesses and the community, the 2017 event actually exceeded its goal. With several hundred people showing up to support the vendors, the silent auction and to enjoy two live bands, this year’s event raised enough money to fund 5.5 wishes. A check presentation to Make-A-Wish Maine will take place at the next Chamber breakfast on Thursday, September 8 at Martindale Country Club in Auburn.
The third annual event is already scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 12, 2017, once again outside at Mac’s Grill. For more information, see www.UncleAndys.com.
