Suzanne Roy presents The Enclave & The Legacy

AUBURN, ME – The Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society [MFGS} is very pleased to host well-known Maine author Suzanne Roy as its guest speaker at its fall general membership meeting on October 17th in the Androscoggin Community Room of the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., Auburn.

Suzanne’s presentation will begin at approximately 11:00 am, following a brief business meeting that begins at 10 am.  Light refreshments will be available for all attendees. Admission to the meeting and the presentation is free and open to the public.

Suzanne R. Roy, a life-long resident of Lewiston, is the author of THE ENCLAVE and its sequel THE LEGACY. These are two historical novels focused on the challenges faced by immigrants and by women in the last century. The books follow the life of a fictional French-Canadian immigrant named Aurore who grows up in Little Canada and whose journey toward self-determination and self-discovery takes place against the backdrop of real places readers will recognize in Lewiston and Auburn.

Suzanne taught writing in the University of Maine system for several years and is a retired financial institution compliance consultant. She wrote “La Bonne Aventure,” the first federally-funded children’s television series aimed at Franco-Americans. She also did research for the Franco-American Heritage Center, taught a local history class at St. Dom’s,  and wrote several one-act plays, one of which won the Bert Bates Memorial Trophy as best play of the year in 2005 at the Ararat One-Act Play Festival in Australia. She is currently working on a third novel.

There will be time for a question-and-answer session at the end of Suzanne’s presentation. Some of her          books will be available for purchase.

MFGS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the study of Franco-American genealogy and genealogical research in the state of Maine.
