Fiddle-icious, the popular fiddle-based orchestra comprised of over 100 volunteer musicians, will make its annual Lewiston appearance in the Franco Center’s magnificent Performance Hall on Sunday, October 25 at 2 p.m. as the group embarks on its twelfth annual performance season.

Directed by Don Roy, a designated Master Fiddler from Gorham who is regarded as one of the state’s “living cultural treasures,” the group is a non-profit, all-volunteer community organization of over 100 musicians hailing from Kittery to Augusta. Members play fiddle, piano, harp, guitar, banjo, accordion, cello, tin whistle, hornpipes, concertina and upright bass. Their repertoire draws from the Irish, Scottish, Québécois and Acadian traditions to include jigs, reels, marches, waltzes, songs and step-dancing.

Roy and his wife, Cindy, the group’s pianist, grew up in French-Canadian families where music was an integral part of their lives. Fiddle-icious grew out of their desire to share their knowledge with others, foster community through music and keep their musical heritage alive.
