Project stakeholders line up for the official groundbreaking.

Kennedy Park was the site of much excitement on October 14 as supporters of the Park Bandstand Restoration Project gathered to celebrate the start of construction with a groundbreaking and donor recognition ceremony. Lending an extra charge to the proceedings was news of an announcement earlier in the day of a major donation to the project by Bangor Savings Bank.

Featured speaker Mayor Robert E. Macdonald described to those present the guiding vision for the project: “Lewiston has a wealth of cultural and artistic offerings, and once the bandstand project is completed, the site will provide our community with additional opportunities to showcase these in the future.”

Acknowledged for their roles in making the project a reality were various stakeholders, including donors, community members, project committee members, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Hebert Construction, elected officials and city staff.
